Project Focused on Development of CaviPlasma Decontamination Technology

The project focuses on research and implementation of innovative CaviPlasma technology, which enables in-situ production of peroxo compounds for effective decontamination of CBRN substances. Within the research, the technology will be tested on model organisms - cyanobacteria and their toxins (cyanotoxins), which include a wide spectrum of chemical structures (from alkaloids to cyclic peptides). The significance of the project is underlined by the fact that cyanobacteria have been identified in several countries as a potential security risk due to their possible misuse for terrorist and criminal acts. The severity of this threat lies in the availability of these materials, which are easily obtainable in large quantities at low costs, while exhibiting diverse toxicological properties.

Main Project Objectives:

  • Development of effective decontamination technology
  • Creation of methods for elimination of toxin producers
  • Development of verified procedures
  • Preparation of functional samples

The project outputs will contribute to strengthening preparedness for this type of security threats and finding effective solutions for their elimination.
